Favorite Things

These companies offer many products we love, but they may also offer products which we have not tried.  Therefore, while we can recommend the companies and some of their products, it’s up to you to determine which ones are right for you.  Also, manufacturers can change their ingredients at any time.  Check the label each time you buy, even on your favorite products.

www.earthbalancenatural.com

Earth Balance makes amazing buttery spreads. Our favorite is the “Original Whipped” spread.  When our oldest daughter was diagnosed with a milk allergy in 1996, there was only one milk-free margarine we could use, and after a couple years, the stores didn’t even sell it anymore.  Shortly thereafter, in 1998, we discovered Earth Balance’s buttery spread.  It was truly a lifesaver!  You can use it for so many things, including baking, and they have great recipes on their website.  Also, look for their other milk-free, gluten-free, lactose-free, and vegan products in your grocery store, like popcorn, kettle chips and crackers.

www.enjoylife.com

Enjoy life makes awesome chocolate chips, chocolate chunks, cookies, snack bars, snack chips, and many other allergy-friendly snacks, something for everyone.  We bake with their chocolate chips and chocolate chunks all the time.  Their foods are free of the common eight allergens, gluten-free, and produced in an allergy-friendly facility.  They have some great allergy-friendly recipes on their website.

www.sodeliciousdairyfree.com

This company is genius! They have revolutionized the dairy-free world.  We have bought almost every ice cream flavor and novelty they sell, and buy so much of the vanilla coconut yogurt that our local Whole Foods sets aside containers for us when they get their shipments in.  They have a very strict process in place for cleaning their equipment, and their containers and lids are BPA free.

www.nowheychocolate.com

No Whey Foods, makes incredible chocolate.  Their chocolate is free of the top eight allergens, and they are vegan, kosher and parve.   We have been buying chocolate from them for several years, back when they were named Premium Chocolatiers.  Their truffles are beautiful, and taste so good.  It is difficult to find chocolate gifts for food allergic individuals around holidays, and they have chocolate Santas, Chanukah truffles, Easter Bunnies, hearts, eggs, pumpkins, chocolate covered pretzels and many more things to choose from! Imagine a young person that has never had chocolate before because of their food allergies, getting a box of truffles, or some type of holiday chocolate for the first time.  There is nothing like watching their reaction.

www.amys.com

Amy’s Kitchen makes several great products for different dietary needs, including vegan, milk-free, soy-free, corn-free, tree nut-free, kosher and lactose-free. Our favorite is the vegan lasagna made with Daiya cheese.  They also have an amazing business philosphy centered on social and environmental responsibility, and invest heavily in the health and welfare of their customers and employees.

www.tofutti.com

We first started buying Tofutti chocolate and vanilla ice cream pints, and Cuties ice cream sandwiches many years ago.  We love all of them!  While it has become difficult to find the pints of chocolate and vanilla ice cream, it’s still easy to find the novelties like the snack sized ice cream sandwiches, and ice cream cones which are delicious.  I have used the sour cream for dips and the cream cheese for baking and liked the flavors better than the ones that contain milk.  There is a Vegan restaurant in Winter Park, Florida named Ethos, that uses the Tofutti ice cream in their desserts.

www.dayiafoods.com

Daiya has several different yogurt flavors to choose from, which we eat several times a week.  We have tried their cheeses, cream cheese, salad dressings and cheesecakes (the chocolate one is great), and much more.  Their website has some great recipes.

www.dreamplantbased.com

While there are many great milk-free beverages on the market, Rice Dream Rice Milk just happens to be our favorite.  We have been buying this product for many years.  We use the “Original Enriched” because we like the flavor, there is less sugar, and it is organic.  It is easy to find, and it doesn’t have to be refrigerated until it’s opened, so we travel with it.

www.handmadebyhereos.com

If you are looking for a medical ID bracelet for food allergies or something else, check out this website.  This company employs U.S. veterans to make paracord ID bracelets, key chains, dog collars, sports bracelets and other products.  They have many pretty colors for you to choose from.   This company helps veterans transition from the military into civilian workforce as they learn new skills.

www.snydersofhanover

They have so many great snacking options including gluten-free, and their pretzels are now produced in a peanut-free facility.

www.soynutbutter.com

There are several peanut-free nut butters on the market, the one that we like is the I.M. Healthy Honey Soy Nut Butter.  We like the flavor and consistency, and it’s gluten-free.

www.benjerry.com

Ben & Jerry’s now makes amazing dairy-free ice cream.  They are vegan, made with almond milk, and just check labels closely, because some of them contain walnuts and peanut butter.

www.cybelesfreetoeat.com

These cookies are great!  They are gluten-free, and they are free from the top eight allergens.

www.backtonature.com

They have some great snacks to choose from and they have many options for different types of dietary restrictions, including soy-free, gluten-free, tree nut-free and kosher.
